Comments from eLearning Participants

"I really enjoyed the eSchools. What a brilliant idea! The opportunity to learn without leaving your office and having reputable individuals teaching you right in your own office was wonderful. The ability to ask questions was easily incorporated into the class. The telephone time available to speak with the instructors after the classes and even being able to email them if necessary was another plus of the class. That is hard to come by at classes you attend away from home. I actually felt I learned just as much, if not more, through the virtual classroom than attending a physical one. I personally enjoyed the classroom having a two year old daughter that I did not want to be away from. The class fit into my regular work schedule and the homework easily fit in during the week at the office and at home at times when was necessary. I definitely would take another class and hope to take FMS II next year."
-- Liza Edinger, Investment Manager, Ripco CU, $47M

"I think the eSchools are a good learning tool. I like the convenience. There is no traveling involved so it cuts back on expense and the headache of being out of the office for a week at a time."
-- Crystal Hill, Sr. Accounting Specialist, First Flight Federal Credit Union, $135M

"I would definitely take another eSchool. I enjoyed the fact that I could be at the office and still learn what I needed."
-- Brenda L. Goetz, Executive Vice President, M-C Federal Credit Union, $51M

"I enjoyed the eSchools. The reason I chose the Virtual Classroom format is that I wanted to receive the training without leaving my home. I work during the day and spend the evenings with my family. This way I could still do both."
-- Robin Barry, Internal Auditor, Patriot FCU, $236M

"I found the eSchools very convenient and rewarding. The time and expense saved by not having to travel was substantial. I would definitely take another eSchool with CUNA."
-- Jeff Davenport, CEO, The County Federal Credit Union, $75M

"I think the eSchool format provides as good a learning environment as the traditional face-to-face school. The eSchools work well for our credit union due to our location in Northern Wisconsin."
-- Susan Schmidt, Executive Vice President, Northwoods Community Credit Union, $40M

"I liked the course options made available through the eSchools. I truly loved the format. To me it was just as interactive as a classroom and the material covered was on par with the quality of a classroom presentation."
--Danielle L. Chatfield VP-Member Services/Lending, OhioHealth CU, $23M

"Its convenient because of cutting down on travel time and expense. Your able to do work ahead of time. The home work can be done over the course of a week, rather than during the evening in a hotel room."
-- Sarah Swenson,Financial Analyst Coordinator, Vermont State Employees, Credit Union, $275M

"I attended the Financial Management Part I. I enjoyed this training option. I felt it was just as easy to ask questions or get responses as a face to face environment, if not easier because your hand didn't go unnoticed as it sometimes does in a classroom. We choose this style of learning because it did allow us to be at work will still improving our knowledge. The savings the credit union had by not traveling allow us to have two employees in the class rather than just one. I am already taking FMS Part II so that shows that I am very pleased with this style of learning. Thank you all for your help and support."
-- Shirley Miller, Accounting Supervisor, First Flight FCU, $120M

"I participated in Financial Management Part I in CUNA's eSchool setting. The eSchool environment was great. I was able to keep up on my daily responsibilities, which would have been impossible had I been out of town to attend this class, and was able to stay home with my family. I don't think anything can replace the value of a face to face interaction. However, I can do just as well academically in a virtual classroom setting as I could in a traditional classroom. The biggest deciding factor for my taking the virtual classroom was that I didn't have to travel. I'd also like to add that the instructors were great. Having been out of a classroom environment for 25 years, I was very concerned that the presenters would speak and teach in a manner beyond my comprehension. However, they brought the topic down to a level I could understand, or could have if I had background in accounting. I was also very impressed with how well the entire program was put together, both the technical end and the learning environment. Very professional."
-- Karen Hotchkiss, Financial Services Manager, Empire FCU, $217M

"I really liked the Virtual Classroom training options because it gave me the ease to attend classes without having to leave the office and also being able to go home every night. I am currently working on my Masters Degree in Accounting and I attend the University of Phoenix Online so I was not a stranger to attending an online class. I would like to take another Virtual Classroom program and I am planning on attending Financial Management II next year after I have completed my Masters Degree Program.
In fact, I feel that sometimes you can actually learn more this way way than in a traditional face-to-face school. Since the teacher is not readily accessible you tend to pay closer attention to the lectures and if you have any questions you have them ready to ask the teacher either by a phone call, e-mail, or at the next lecture session. The deciding factor for taking the virtual classroom program for me was so that I didn't have to travel anywhere and also not missing time from the office. Saving travel expenses was just a plus."
-- Lou Ann Ciesinski, Accounting Manager, Delaware Federal Credit Union, $88M
