March 14–18, 2010
Boston, MA

ABOUT THIS EVENT

Consumer debt is on the rise and recent statistics report that the average household has over $18,000 in debt. Because of this high level of debt, credit unions are seeing more and more members experiencing financial problems. These problems are the direct result of members not having the needed knowledge or understanding of how to manage their finances, as well as, managing the level of debt.

Hear from industry experts and network with peers to better your ability to help your members reach their financial goals. All credit union staff who work in financial counseling, collections, and loan departments should attend to stay current on financial counseling practices.

Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor Recertification
Maintain your Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor (CCUFC) designation by getting recertified every three years. This school is designed to meet the recertification requirement. If you choose to recertify, you will receive a review workbook at registration. On Thursday afternoon, the recertification test will be administered immediately following a group review session.

Earn college credit. The American Council on Education's College Credit Recommendation Service has recommended college credit for CUNA's Certified Financial Counsleors School: Advanced. Three semester hours in Personal Finance or Financial Planning in the lower division baccalaureate/associate have been recommended. Contact your advisor to determine if your college or university will accept these credits.
